The universal phenomenon, definitely unfair to women, is that it is more difficult for women than for men to land a job on account of gender discrimination. However, in modern society, it is assumed, by some people, that the phenomenon has no longer existed. At the same time, there is no doubt that an increasing number of people consider the phenomenon to have existed all the time. What's more, the opinions of the issue vary from person to person. As far as I am concerned, I can never be too favorable to the common phenomenon that women meet with trouble in job hunting.

Recently, the survey, made by specialists, showed that nearly 50 percent of women considered themselves having faced gender discrimination pretty seriously or even extremely seriously in job hunting. In addition, another survey indicated another harsh reality that women were able to get a job after applying for the job for 10 times on average, whereas men could get a job after just 4 times' application on a fifty-fifty basis.

With an old saying going well that where there's reek, there's heat, the main reasons are listed as follows. First of all, influenced by the traditional view of women being pervasive and inertial thinking, a great number of people, by the light of nature, deem that women cannot do some types of jobs as men can. Moreover, due to the significant role women played in the family, women in pregnancy or lactation need more vacation and they have to spend more time and energy in their family, making part of employers reluctant to employ women in consideration of maximizing the enterprises' benefits.

As is known to all, every path has a puddle. The problem, how to change this social phenomenon, can be handled in the following two aspects: themselves and the outside world. On the one hand, there is no doubt that women have their own unique advantages in some types of occupational area. For instance, most women always have good qualities of consideration, prudence, patience, and so forth. Hence, working in whichever field, women are able to make full use of their advantages to improve work efficiency. Or rather, women may as well identify and develop strengths. On the other hand, to ensure the equality of opportunity between men and women, the government is supposed to make relevant laws and rules effectively. Therefore, meanwhile, it is high time for society to create an environment of the talent market where men and women can be treated equally in job hunting.

In a nutshell, confronted with serious challenge, women ought to embrace the challenge bravely and spare every effort to make it. What is believed by all, is that human control their own destiny. Notwithstanding having no ability to change it at present, women are capable of adapting themselves to such society temporarily, making themselves outstanding and then gradually change this social phenomenon.
